And again I have good news. In his wisdom Admiral Lloyd has appointed another crewmember to the Nimitz. It is ACEO Jim Deacon, played by Scott Stoecker . His reporting post has not yet arrived. When it does, I will add it to the compile together with his BIO. I would like to make a few remerks, though. It happens sometimes that the time-indexes you use are not consistent with each other or are missing. This results in a lot of work seeing the number of posts I have to compile. So please watch out for time-errors. Also please include your dutystation in the Location indicator. It makes it much easier to find out who has done what to who and why. It also helps the newer crewmembers to know who everybody is. OK? Then let's go on with the game onhand. Keep up the good work! RPG: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The CSO is making an impact immediately. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Surin cha'Evekh - 09:35) The Admiral frowned. "Admiral Kyt is out!" he said harshly. "I am Admiral Woldan for you. Only my best friends have the privilige of calling me by my first name. But enough of that. You are late, Ensign! I hate sloppy people, especially sloppy Vulcans." Before Surin had time to answer, Woldan gestured. "Next time remember the correct way to address Bajorans, Ensign. So you are the Science Officer? Hm..never could understand why they would post a Science Officer on a battleship, but there you have it. Anyway, make yourself at home behind your console on the Bridge. I am sorry but since we are supposed to be a battleship there isn't much Science crew on board. You will have to do it almost single handedly. But by all means check out the Science labs and then report back to me. Ensign, dismissed!" "Yes, Sir," replied Surin and turned to the turbolift. ~Not good,~ he thought. ~A CO who is prejudiced against science personnel being on board warships. I suppose I'd better begin making good impressions sometime soon.~ "Deck six," he requested. (USS Nimitz - Deck 6 - Surin cha'Evekh - 09:38) All science-related facilities were located on deck six. Surin decided to take a quick tour of the labs and meet with his staff. He would try to get a more detailed overview of the resources at his disposal later, when he had more time. NRPG: Half an hour passes. RPG: (USS Nimitz - CSO's office - Surin cha'Evekh - 10:05) Surin entered his office and looked around. It was somewhat functional with a desk, a computer terminal and two chairs. On one wall was a map of the ship, and on the opposite wall a porthole. He was about to return to the bridge, when he heard the door signal. "Enter!" A young terran male entered the office. "Good morning, sir. Cadet Walter Farris reporting. I'm your assistant." "Ah, good morning, cadet. I just took a look at the laboratories. They appear to be in order, but where is the rest of the science staff?" Cadet Farris smiled: "We are the science staff, sir, there's only the two of us. Apparently, Starfleet does not see much need for science personnel on it's military vessels." "So I have noticed. We will have to get the best out of what we have. Oh, by the way, I noticed that the molecylar disassembler needed to be reconfigured. Would take care of that, please?" "Certainly, sir." "Good. I will on the bridge if there is anything." Surin left the room and headed for the turbolift. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Surin cha'Evekh - 10:15) Entering the bridge, Sirin nodded a greeting to the other officers there. The admiral didn't seem to notice him. He went to the science station. "Admiral, CSO reporting on station." "Good. Get to work," grumbled the admiral. There was not much for him to do while the ship was at warp speed, so he activated the computer and began running some tests to see if it was properly configured. NRPG: 13:00 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Surin cha'Evekh - 13:00) Surin felt the ship decelerating from warp speed. As they entered real-space, Ensign Hammond reported: "Admiral, we are approaching the buoy. No sign of the Tomcat, sir." Ensign Rivers said after a few moments: "Sir! The external sensors seem to have been tampered with!" As she spoke she was running a diagnostic, cross-checking with the results sent by Troi from the Tomcat. "Thanks to Troi's diagnostic, I can fix it relatively quickly." "How long, Ensign?" the Admiral wanted to know. "Fifteen minutes, sir. I'm switching to backup systems, but they may have been tampered with too." The OPS was still busy keying commands in on her console. "Recommend all systems be thoroughly checked, sir." she said after a while. The Admiral thought for a moment, then issued his commands. "OK, Ensign, do so. Mr. Hammond, drop to one quarter impulse power. Lieutenant, engage cloak, it's bad enough that we can't see them but when they see us, we could be in a lot of trouble. Ensign cha'Evekh, help out the OPS. We need our sensors back online." "Yes, sir," responded Surin. "Ensign Rivers, I will run a diagnosis scan of the sensors computer to determine how it has been tampered with." "Right." NRPG: Surin starts checking the computer. Five minutes passes. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Surin cha'Evekh - 13:05) The results from the diagnosis were displayed on the screen. ~Interesting. This does not correspond to the error reported by the Tomcat.~ Aloud he said: "Lieutenant De Segura? I need you to perform a scan of the circuitry in the sensors computer's sector 523. According to the diagnosis, there is a physical damage in that sector." "All right, ensign, if you can't handle this yourself," the lieutenant responded, and keyed in a few commands. ~A most illogical comment, but this is hardly the time to point that out.~ After a moment, the lieutenant spoke up: "Well ensign, it would seem that your computer is wrong. There are no physical damages in the sensors computer." "Interesting. Wait, the damages appear to be spreading out. There are now damages in sectors 521, 523 and 527." The lieutenant was beginning to get annoyed. "Ensign cha'Evekh, this is ridiculous. There are no physical damages in that computer, otherwise iI would have been notified." "Lieutenant, I am merely stating the facts I have. I do not have enough information to draw conclusions yet." Surin turned to the computer. "Computer, perform complete diagnostical of sensor computer." <> Just then, a thought crossed Surins mind: ~Virus!~ "Computer! Cancel that order. Cut connection to sensors computer and isolate malfunctioning circuits." <> "What's wrong, ensign?" asked the admiral. "Sir, I believe the sensors computer has been infected with an electronical virus, type is as yet unknown. The infected sectors contain a part of the configuration files for the long range sensors. If I remove the data in those sectors, the virus will be destroyed and ensign will be able to reconfigure the sensors in a few minutes." "Right. Do that," the admiral answered. Surin turned to the computer again. "Computer, erase all data in malfunctioning sectors." <> "Scan sectors for viruses." <> "Good. Ensign Rivers, the computer should be working again." "Thank you, ensign cha'Evekh," Rivers responded. She quickly reconfigured the computer and activated the sensors. "External sensors working within normal parameters, sir. Restoring sensor array." She drew in a sharp breath. "I think you'll want to see this, sir!" "On screen!" (Reply from Adm. Wolden, Lt. De Segura, Any) (Posted by Andreas Kjeldsen) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Admiral has not forgotten his Maquis training. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Nimitz, Bridge, CO Adm. Woldan, 13:15) Woldan heard the OPS call out. "External sensors working within normal parameters, sir. Restoring sensor array....I think you'll want to see this, sir!" "On screen!" the Admiral ordered. The blank screen sprang into life again. It showed a group of ships near an asteroid field. Three were marked as unkown ships, the fourth was identified as the USS Bounty and the fifth was the Runabout. It was clear that the Runabout was in a very sorry state and four ships were retreating into the asteroid field. "DAMN!" the Admiral shouted. "Any lifesigns?" "Yes SIR! There are still two lifesigns onboard the Tomcat but very weak!" "Why are they doing that!" Ensign Hammond yelled. "Easy Ensign," the Admiral said frowning," No need to panick. They are obviously setting a trap for other ships who would come to the rescue. I guess their intelligence didn't tell them that the Nimitz can cloak!" The Admiral thought for a moment. "Anyway, that means that the crew of the Tomcat will be save for now. Ensign Hammond, take us to the asteroid field behind the pirate-ships. No Warp however, they might pick up the Warp signature. All hands: Red Alert!" The Admiral turned around, and frowned when he saw the Tactical position having been taken over by Ensign Linda Rivers. NRPG: Note it's not Susan Rivers. Susan is still busy with repairing the sensors. This is obviously a rescue attempt. How do you all like it? 8-) RPG: "Ensign Rivers, be prepared to target all four ships ships at my mark. I have no doubt that the Bounty has been taken over, since she is still flying and the crew is dead. Target the Warp drives and weapons locations only, when we have full sensor ability again. Use the Forward Phaser Arrays and Quantum Torpedolauchers. I want them damaged but not destroyed. If I am not mistaken then they will drop their shields when they have reached their hiding places to minimise the possibilty of detection. Also be prepared to raise the shields as soon as we drop our cloak. I want you to raise shields and fire away within three seconds after dropping the cloak." The Ensign nodded and was keying in some commands, when the TAC/ASC entered the bridge. "Ensign Rivers, you are relieved." he said," I continue from now" Everybody in the bridge watched the water dripping TAC/ASC. "Admiral Woldan, I have apprehended the saboteur and accuired a confession. Anything else?" "Yes, Ensign!" the Admiral roared. "It is nice that you have taken the time to take a bath but in future you will stay on the Bridge when we are in pursuit! It is well done that you have apprehended the saboteur but next time you will ask for my permission to leave the Bridge first! Did I make myself clear, Ensign!" Woldan watched how Ensign Rivers told the TAC/ASC what the Admirals orders had been but before Woldan could continue, he heard the OPS saying:" All systems ready, sir." "Good work, Ensign." the Admiral said, suddenly smiling, but then he turned towards the TAC/ASC again. "Ensign Baranna, do you think you can target the four ships now or do you need a manicure first?" Woldan shook his head, turned back to see the Nimitz closing in on the pirates and shook his head muttering something like:" So this is Angosian aggresion?". The Admiral watched intently as the viewscreen showed the approaching asteroidfield with the four ships, waiting there. Suddenly Ensign Rivers reported:" The ships have dropped shields, Sir." "I thought so, They are not that stupid." Woldan looked on when he noticed a starnger stepping out on the Bridge. The man approached the frowning Admiral and said: "Sir, Ensign Aldo Meecham, Chief Engineering Officer, USS Nimitz, reporting for Duty Sir !" The Admiral looked surprised, but then started smiling. "CEO, you say? How nice of you to drop in, Ensign Meecham. Well, it just so happens that we have a temporary CEO, but I guess he will be honoured to act as your ACEO. Lieutenant de Segura? ENSIGN Meecham has been appointed as the new CEO on the Nimitz, so I am sorry but that will end your temporary CEO-ship. But I'm sure you will help out the new CEO, won't you? I am appointing you as temporary ACEO. Take up your position in the Engineering section, Lieutenant." When de Segura left, the Admirals smile turned into a grin. "Sir, we have taken up our position behind the pirateships, Sir." the CONN reported. "Are the ships targeted, Mr. Baranna?" "Yes sir." "Good, Ensign Meecham, drop cloak!" (Reply by ALL) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The TAC/ASC does his job, and is sick of it ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ( Nimitz - Bridge - Ensign(Jg) Baranna -13:29 ) Baranna checked targeting parameters that Rivers had entered. ~Primary targets are warp drives and weapon arrays. So admiral want them intact, more or less.~ "Good, Ensign Meecham, drop cloak!" Admiral said and Baranna activated all phaser banks. He launched two torpedoes at the furthermost enemy and punctured the warp drives of the other three. Quickly targeting the weapon clusters of the first ship. Coherent beams sliced through the hull and baranna quickly entered the required corrections to hit the clusters. Beams swerved and nearly sliced a piece of the enemy ship. Pieces of weaponry started to float amongst asteroids. The second ship started to turn towards Nimitz. Before the turn was completed, Baranna launched a torpedo spread at the ship. Fingers started to leap from left to right as he selected the third ship weapons as a target for phasers. Ship was starting to accelerate. Baranna locked the phasers at their positions and waited a moment before firing them. Phasers spat their deadly charge and they tore jagged lines from midway of the ship to the warp drives. Fine mist started to pour out of the missing drivepod location; few human shapes flew out with the mist. Still acting machine like he scanned the situation. Ship number one was drifting slowly. Number two was spinning head over heals, torpedo spread had pounded its topside and now it was fighting to stop the spin. Ship number three was hurt badly and unable to escape; Baranna targeted the rear weapon clusters and blasted them away. Ship number four, Bounty was entangled with a rather large asteroid that the torpedoes had pushed against it. ~How that could happen. I have to check the battlelogs afterwards.~ Ship to ship battle was over; enemy was ambushed and pounded badly. What return fire the pirates were able to effect was absorbed by the shields. Some minor repair work would be repaired but nothing major. Baranna continued to snipe away weapon clusters until no return fire was possible. Twisted human like figures floated though the asteroids and into the abyss of space. Baranna stood still a moment. "Admiral Woldan. Enemy is disabled. Return fire capabilities destroyed. Is there anything else?" Baranna fighted the impulse to vomit. Holding tightly of the console he made it impossible for his hands to shake. "To all marine personnel. Prepare for boarding action." (Reply from Any) (Posted by Jari Mäkelä) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The new ACEO is turning a blind eye. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Nimitz - Main Engineering - ACEO temp - Lieutenant(Sg) Ayrton Jose-Maria Ignacio don Estrella De Segura de la Sierra - 13:29) Ayrton noticed the sudden dropping of the cloak, and then realised that they had encountered the pirates. The power usage for the phaser-banks was going through the roof! De Segura fed power through to the weapons controllers, as demanded. He monitored the warp core and noticed a slight rise in the coolant temperature, and noticed a disturbing detail on another panel! He tapped his comm-badge; "Lt.De Segura to Ensign Baranna. What are you trying to do? Fry them? I distinctly remember the Admiral order that only their weapons and warp drives be targetted! My sensor repeaters show organic matter floating free in space! Explain that to the Admiral, please! De Segura, out!" Ayrton thumbed on the Library Computer interface, and entered a search parameter. The result was quickly displayed: <> Ayrton next called up Ship's Personnel Records: <> He bypassed some of this and found what he was looking for: <> There was more, but Ayrton switched it off in disgust! Starfleet had let a killing machine loose on the Nimitz, and the poor, misguided, paranoid bloke was currently manning the weapons consoles! Ayrton entered another personal message to Ensign Baranna, it read: *I have just read of your background and history. It would appear that you have never heard of my Spanish heritage, or you would not jest at my needing to see the ship's counsellor on her return. I would suggest, Ensign, that we both seek to mend the fences that have been torn down in this futile hostility between us. I would hate to kill you in a duel where, your lack of chivalrous upbringing notwithstanding, you would be at a severe disadvantage! If you check Starfleet records properly, you will see that I am currently the Alpha Quadrant sabre, foil, and epee fencing champion. Holder of seven Olympic Gold Medals, and four Pan-Galactic Latinum Laurel Wreaths. I have met Durel chi'Nookh six times, and he has never beaten me. Do not joke when a Spaniard challenges you to a duel!* Ayrton sat back and awaited the reply that he just knew would soon be on its way! (Reply from Baranna, Any) (Posted by Roy Hunter) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The OPS remembers the people in need. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Nimitz, Bridge, Ensign(jg) Susan Rivers, 13:29) Susan continued to scan the Tomcat. "Sir, the environmental systems are failing and the two lifesigns are becoming weaker. If we don't get them out soon, it will be too late!" As she spoke, she saw the phasers and torpedoes from the Nimitz strike home on all four targets. "Admiral, permission to drop shields to bring them aboard now?" At the Admiral's curt nod, she contacted the transporter room. "Two to transport from the Tomcat directly to Sickbay on my mark. Mark!" Right on cue the shields dropped momentarily then raised as soon as the transport was completed. =^= Sickbay to Bridge. Deynarian and Troi safe on board. =^= Sending a silent prayer of thanks to whoever might be listening, Susan readied a tractor beam to tow the Tomcat back to the Shuttle Bay as soon as the Admiral gave the word. ~Well, my first day sure has been exciting so far. Glad to be aboard. RPG: For the last few minutes, Meecham had felt as if he was back in the Academy, in one of those confusion, everything happening at once Holodeck scenarios...He sat quietly at the Engineering station, carefully monitoring ship's systems whilst at the same time trying to fathom out the current engineering status of the Nimitz. ~ Why am I the CEO when there is a Lieutenant as my assistant ? ~ This and several other questions probed at Meecham's conscience as he worked. A light blinked on the console, indicating another low-level diagnostic and report had completed. Meecham frowned, the ship appeared in reasonable condition....but, he noted several areas that needed some fine tuning. He made a few annotations on a PADD and continued with his work...seemingly oblivious to the rest of the action on the bridge. NRPG: A short one but I am waiting for things to calm down a little ! Permission to speak." "Granted, Ensign Baranna" "Computer open commline to lieutenant De Segura." "Lt. De Segura wanted me to explain to you the presence of organic matter in space. As you already know, the organic matter in question is engineering personnel from pirate ship whose warp engine I destroyed. They must have been in the engineering section by the warp engine. I fired at the warp engines and weapons as ordered, Did I not?" "That is correct, Ensign." "Thank you for clearing that up, Sir." "Computer, close commline to lieutenant De Segura." Baranna powered down the weapons. "Admiral Woldan, requesting a permission to leave the bridge. I have matters of security that require my presence at the brig." Admiral looked at Baranna. To Baranna it seemed that he was wondering if this request was silent counter for his earlier reprimand. "Granted." Baranna left the bridge quickly. He headed straight to the nearest wash room. After checking it was empty he vomited. Baranna sat on the floor shaking uncontrollably. ~ 'Rush' this is how it feels. ~ Clumsily baranna rose from the floor and started to clean himself up. ~ No wonder no-one back home could explain it. And it felt great.~ ( Nimitz - Deck 12 - Ensign(Jg) Baranna - 13:40 ) After he had cleaned his appearance a bit he started towards the Brig. Marines in full combat suit and carrying the heavies handheld weapons onboard. Baranna fetched the four brawlers to his office. "As you see, we are in the middle of battle situation. And that gives me the right to deal out much harsher punishments than normally. But I am feeling generous. You have a choice. Either I look up what punishment the regulations book demands on brawlers in battlefield conditions or you all are volunteers for clean-up duty for the next two weeks." They accepted the volunteer duty. After they had left Baranna laughed out freely. ~ Punishment for Brawling in starship was incarceration for 12 to 48 hours.~ Baranna returned to the brig and examined the conditions there. Nauseous feeling returned. Cells were packed full. Some of the prisoners cried. One prayed for the souls of the dead. The fact that there were casualties entered Barannas mind. ~ Organic matter was living people. People who died because I gutted the ship. ~ Baranna left the brig in the hands of the marines, who acted with cold detachment as they herded the pirates around. Shaking returned and Baranna nearly vomited again. The thought of men suffocating and feeling their innards turning upside down made his stomach churn. Baranna nearly fled to his quarters. Slipping on the pieces of the broken lamp, Baranna fell and vomited. (( Nimitz - TAC/ASC quarters - Ensign(Jg) Baranna - 13:45) After Baranna had cleaned his quarters he opened terminal. There was a message waiting from lieutenant De Segura. ~That man is really troublesome. Who the h*** is Durel? ~ Baranna started to scan De Seguras personnel file again. There was nothing new. Baranna opened the library files conserning duels. After reading it carefully a smile spread on his face. He started to compose a reply. * At the current moment I am not able to reply to your challenge. They start pulling her out of the water and as she opens her eyes all she can see is a blured form in front of her. "Father, help me!" She exclaimed "Thank you father! I love you very much!" she said putting her arms around his neck. Then she heard someone saying, "Counselor calm down." Pulling back she looked again and then realized that she was in the sick bay of the Nimitz with her arms around the neck of the EMH Doctor. Letting her arms fall the rest of the way and blushing she look around to see if there were anyone else in the immediate area. Seeing none, "Doctor this will be between us!
